(E-mail address- egpatac@yahoo.com ) Is the head of a government facility,the receiving arm under the Corrections Bureau, Justice Department of the Philippines. The bureau is tasked to: • Process and administer diagnostic tests on newly committed prisoners.
• Determine the prisoners’ individual treatment programs.
• Address the prisoners’ physical, emotional and psychological disabilities so that a proper and effective rehabilitation program can be put in place, thus enabling them to prepare for their eventual re-integration into the mainstream of Philippine society.
Edilinda Patac is hoping that the course on Human Rights and Disability sponsored by SIDA in Sweden on May 8-19,2006 will give her new insights, motivation and perspectives that will help her to address challenges in her work area. The biggest challenge is to be able to apply globally accepted conceptual frameworks and methodological processes on the local level, taking in consideration socio-cultural, economical and demographical aspects as well as political realities.
